Music Video Personal Refection
Music Video Personal Reflection
Firstly, I think that my idea for the video was good, I wanted to think of something different and with a purpose/story to the video. I thought about what was going on in the world at this time and it was lockdown so I wanted to make something that people would be able to relate to. I started off by downloading Boris Johnsons speech about going into lockdown onto my computer and I watched all of it and started cutting out bits that were irrelevant or boring and was left with important phrases that would leave an impact on people such as ‘you must stay at home’, ‘you cannot meet up with your friends’. Secondly, I also thought that putting that footage in between footage that I filmed would be effective and I think that was a really good idea and worked well. I then wanted to show different perspectives of people in lockdown and so I showed a mum who was cooking lunch for her children to show what she was doing in lockdown and hoe she was not at work anymore, I then showed a young boy who was playing a video game, showing that children were bored and all they could really do was play with their toys or things in their household. I then showed an older boy who was doing online learning suggesting that that was what school was for him now and how it has changed so much.Thirdly, I think my editing was quite good and I had a lot of close ups and long shots and my transitions worked well as I used straight cuts.
I think I needed to improve on the variety of my shots as I only did long shots and close ups and so a variety would have been more effective. When editing the footage of Boris Johnson I should have taken more time to accurately get the right bits as in one of the bits of footage I don’t cut it out fast enough and he is just about to say another word which makes it look less professional and that I rushed making it. I also think that I could have shown the effects of what lockdown had on the different people I filmed to make it be more interesting. I also think I could have spent more time on my story board as I did it quite roughly and if I spent longer on it there could have been more detail in the video which would make it much more effective as when the young boy was playing a video game it is just a random video game that didn’t have any meaning to it and I think that could have been a really good opportunity to use intertextuality on the TV to make my video more successful.
