COCOON - CATFISH AND THE BOTTLEMEN

Narrative: a boy goes into a mental hospital to the the girl he loves as she has been brainwashed however at the end the people at the mental hospital catch him and brainwash him as well
Shot duration: mostly around 3 seconds long, longer at the start of the video however become much snappier towards the end. At the very beginning there is a continuous shot of 10 seconds.
Balance of performative and narrative elements:
Colour scheme: underlying blue tones and dark when at the mental hospital however when there are flashbacls of the girl and the boy of how the used to be outside the hospital the colours are all much lighter.
Mise en scene: the boy and the girl have two costumes, 1 when in the mentalhospital and 1 with the flashbacks. The girl is wearing yellow in the flashbacks and so much brighter colours making it seem that was when she was happy. All the other characters are wearing the same costumes throughout. The location is mainly in the hospital with a few shots outside when there are flashbacks. Use of props: other characters playing instruments adding to the craziness of the hospital and the pills they have to swallow showing they are being brainwashed.

NO PRESSURE - THE KOOKS
Narrative: The video follows a young couple, pregnant with their first child, whose love for each other shines through, despite uncertain times ahead. Escaping their suffocating suburban existence and disapproving families, the couple steal a car and go on a Bonnie & Clyde style road trip, staging their own mock wedding day along the way, with a thrift shop dress, wedding breakfast made up of burgers and fries, and cans hanging from the back of their carThe story juxtaposes youthful spontaneity with the responsibilities of adulthood, cutting from open countryside full of natural light and possibility to a dingy and stereotypically British pub setting. The narrative ends with the happy couple having their first dance in the pub to The Kooks, ultimately showing that life goes on and its trials and tribulations are all part of an exciting journey.
Shot duration : The shots are mostly quite short however towards the end when the couple is dancing  the shots are longer.
Balance of performative and narrative elements: Bonnie and Clyde style roadtrip and dingy British pub setting.
Colour scheme: quite dingy dark lighting at the shots at the pub however bright colours when the couple are together and outside.
Mise en scene: the boy and girl have one costume throughout where she is wearing a wedding dress and he is wearing smart shirt and trousers. Not many props apart from flowers. Locations: the pub, the church and in the car.

NOTHING BUT LOVE - JAMES
Narrative: there is a depressed girl and a person with a TV on their head. The person with the TV on their head helps the girl through her troubles as they arealways happy and they show their emotions through the screen on the TV. The person then sees something on the news of all the bad things happening in the world and they run to a cliff however the depressed girl saves them and it is revealed the person is another girl and they fall in love.
Shot duration: long shots at the beginning such as a continuous one of 10 seconds long, the shots then get sappier and shorter like 3 seconds long as there are lots of different camera angles
Balance of narrative and performative elements:
Colour scheme: Quite dark lighting and dim clothes, the sky is cloudy and so creates a dark feel to the video however at the end when the girl is revealed it is sunset and so it is much brighter.
Mise en scene: One costume throughout which are dull colours. Not many props other than the TV on the girls head and an ice cream when they go to the shop to get one to show they are doing fun things together and falling in love. Locations: Near the beach, one shot of them walking down the street, one shot of them in a shop, one shot of them in a car junkyard, one shot of them on the cliff, the rest they are walking.
